Language Skills

Dru's language skills are coming on strong. He has started the cutest thing ever here lately. He'll be in a bedroom, like right now he is in the other room watching a movie. Every ten minutes or so he'll open the door and tell me something. I have no idea what he's trying to tell me, but I know he knows what he's saying. I give it another four months and I bet he'll be understandable. All he's doing is popping the door open and saying something then shutting it again. It's cute. My little smarty pants.
Love him!

Dru's First Stitches

He was playing with his cousin Donovon at his daddy's and fell and bit his bottom lip open. His dad called my house phone, let him know and they headed to the hospital down the street from their place. I guess they both felt it wasn't something they could just text and tell me so I found out when I got home. I talked to Dru's nana about it and it was bad. She told me it was pretty much a chunk out of his lower lip. He had his daddy, nana and papa with him so I decided not to trek the forty miles to be with him. I also figured I could baby him and hold him when he came home to me the next day. Everything went well. The doctor sewed about five stitches to repaired his lip. No chunk was taken out, he just split it pretty bad. Dru's best buddy, Mr. Bear, was covered in blood. I cried a lot. His my baby boy and even after a terrible fall he had after he slipped on the tile after a bath this was the worst injury he's had.

He has also started a new habit when he's with me. If he doesn't fall asleep right away in his crib he will strip down to nothing. Then he will usually pee. It is awful. He was doing it about three times a week and that meant washing sheets, a pillow and Mr. Bear three times a week. After telling my sister about it she advised me to duct tape his diaper on. It worked. Last night he only stripped down to the diaper. No pee! No sheet changin'! Here's the most interesting pic of the stitched lip and duct taped diaper. Love his hair too. He just exudes, "I have a wonderful Mother".

He's a Biter

I quit breastfeeding at 10 months because he was a biter. Problem hasn't stopped. He bites at daycare and he bites me every now and then here at home. Usually he will run up wrap his arms around your legs like he's going to hug you and he'll take a chunk out of your leg. It HURTS! Well tonight we were playing a tackle game. He just simply tackles you when you're sitting down. I was pretty tired of it after the millionth tackle and I stayed on my back. He baby-babbled something along the lines of, "Come on, MOM, get up I wanna tackle you again of course!" But I wasn't about to budge. So, I knew a dog pile was about to happen. He flew face first into my stomach and bit me so hard I screamed. About four inches from my belly button I have a whelped up bite mark with what looks like a hickey in the middle. He bit so hard it brought blood to the surface in the middle.

I don't usually spank. But, I busted his butt! Then I showed him what he did to me and made him say he was sorry. At that point he was kind of funny. He didn't want to look at me and he was only saying he was sorry because I was making him. It was obvious. He's about to turn two. I am not 100% sure he knows exactly what just happened, but his actions point to him knowing. He was ashamed of what he did, but he was being a brat and didn't want to say sorry. Not too happy with him tonight.... but bedtime is approaching.

Here's the Biter tonight. Cheesin'

My Son. My Awesome Son.

Dru met Akylah!

I have a friend I have kept in touch with after high school and we have stayed pretty close. She moved out of state our junior year and every time she comes to visit Oklahoma we get to hang out for a short while. This was the first year she has visited after us both having kids. Last time she was here it was merely months before we both got pregnant. Dru and Ky are 2 1/2 months apart. Ky is so smart. She says goodbye with kisses. She went around the whole room and gave everyone a kiss goodbye. Such a little sweetie. It was awesome that we got this pic. They tried to kiss like three times. One would lean in and the other wouldn't pay attention... and finally they both leaned in and it was adorable. Is this Dru's first kiss? Hahaha

Dru updates:
Dru is an awesome kid these days.... when he's not being evil. He's getting pretty rough sometimes. Throwing things, hitting and biting. But most of the time he's awesome. His vocabulary consists of, buddy, bobby (sippy cup), ball, doggy, dog, kitty, mom, whoa, daddy, I love you (which sounds like "i-uh-ew", baby, and no.... He'll repeat pretty well too. He met a ferret a while back and kept calling it a dog. After telling him it was a ferret, he said the word ferret very clear. & He said horse last night. He loves to babble. He'll just roam around the house talking about whatever and not making any sense. Maybe he's trying to and he just can't, I have no idea.
He will wear anything he can find. My shoes, my socks, my shoes, head bands, sunglasses, and bracelets.... He loves to shut doors, give hugs, tackle you, and bring you things like books, personal items and such.
His favorite foods are mac and cheese, nutrigrain bars, bananas, chicken nuggets, string cheese and ALL BREAD! That kid will eat all the bread in this world.
I love him. He is my baby boy. I work inside a Wal-mart at a bank and I see kids every day, every hour. They make me miss him. Especially on days where I work ten hours. I hate having to drop him off and miss him all day 6 days a week, but he knows I love him.
Something I can't wait for---- This "terrible twos" to end. I want him to calm down and chill out. Sit with me and cuddle with me for MORE THAN five minutes at a time. Can't wait. He's such a wild child right now, but I know he'll chill out soon.

Enough blogging for now....

Tired of it.

I'm really tired of Dru putting stuff up his nose. Found a wood chip up his nose yesterday morning. It had to have been from the day before while he was playing outside. About ten minutes ago he put another wood chip in his nose and the day care called. They want me to take him to the Doc or the ER. No. I don't want to. I'm on hold with the Doc now and we'll see if it needs to to be extracted.

In the mean time I am not happy with him. At all. Tired of the crap up his nose.

______________________________

Update: Took him to the doc and they couldn't find anything up there. It cost $15 and it took gas to get all the way to the north side of town. It was a terrible day. And someday when Dru makes me upset I'm going to call his girlfriend and tell her all about that day!

The boy just didn't want to sleep!

I attempted to put Dru down for a nap around 11 and he wasn't having it. I tried again a couple hours later and I thought it was a success. I heard him giggle and babble a couple times, but for the most part I thought he had slept a least a little. When it came time to get him up.... I was knocked off my feet.

He had pulled his diaper off. I walked in to see him bottomless and poo was everywhere. I screamed. I'm surprised the neighbors didn't come by and see if everything was okay. Thank God they didn't.

I took Dru straight to the bath immediately and I also brushed his teeth. Yep, I am pretty sure he ate his own poo. Because of that I called the Doc. The nurse first told me I wasn't a terrible mother for letting this happen. I was happy to hear that. She said he might throw up, but he hasn't. So, we're good.

I just can't believe this happened. I will never ever put him down in a diaper alone. He's wearing pants for the rest of his life to sleep!

Oh, Dru.

It can scare the crap out of even a seasoned mother. It can make a mom jump to her feet in milliseconds. It's the sound that strikes fear in a mother's heart. Complete silence. What is the child doing in the other room? What are they eating?!

Yesterday we cleaned Dru's room to a T. It was safe as could be in there. So, we let him play alone for a while. We heard him hitting his cars together and pressing buttons to those awesome noisy toys that actual moms never buy... Even for other people's kids. That's when it happened. Complete silence. I went to go figure out what could be going on in there so quietly. This is what I came across. Crazy kid.

Photobucket
Yep, that's the third step to his organizer. He pushed all the toys off the first three steps to it so that he could climb to the top.

Tissue, please.

Dru found a tissue box while we were all turned away.

Here's the story.

Photobucket
Dru finds box of tissues and it's never-ending ability to spit out tissues on demand.

Photobucket
Dru thinks this fun will never stop!

Photobucket
Until mommy decides to stop being a camera-man and go back to being a mommy. (BTW his facial expression in this picture... He looks just like his dad!)

Photobucket
Mommy takes the box of tissues.

Photobucket
The fit is officially upon us!

It is time for an intervention.

One of my favorite TV shows is How I Met Your Mother. In it they have silly interventions where they step in when someone is overusing a phrase or a harmless hobby.

Dru's hobby is putting stuff up his nose. His Doctor told us to just not laugh or pay any attention to him while he's doing it. I don't think it's working. We mentioned it to his daycare and they started laughing and shared a little story with us. I guess he has to be watched really carefully even when he's outside. They said sometimes when all the other kids are playing he'll take the opportunity to put wood chips up his nose! Oh NO! My kid's gonna be the one eating the glue in kindergarten isn't he? Haha I'm just kidding. But in case I'm not... We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Photobucket
I got this horsie for Dru while I was still pregnant. I don't think I even knew I was having a boy yet. I can recall looking down at my barely-there-belly hiding underneath my Pizza Hut uniform and asking the guy holding the garage sale how old his kids were when they started using it.

Photobucket
He doesn't really rock on it yet. He's just gets on and off of it.

Photobucket
Oh yeah, and he also takes the handle out and puts it back in. Goofy kid.

Dru is officially walking!

Yep! Before, he would take a couple of steps and then drop to his knees and crawl wherever he was trying to go. Today was his buddy, Marek's first birthday. We met a bunch of new people. They asked normal baby questions like when was Dru born, how far apart in age are he and Marek... And is he walking. I was like, 'no he's not really walking..." THEN he walked from the living room to the kitchen! He didn't stop there either. Zach's sister, Nina, and her boyfriend we're playing with him and getting him to walk to and from each other. I was so proud.

Photobucket
Ashley and Marek.

After the party was my step sister's baby shower. On the way over to my dad's house I prayed that he would walk for them too. And, he did! My sister was proud of him too. Oh, it has been a long time coming. He's 15 months and two days old. I have been ready for this for a while.

Oh yeah, we're doing a little better with the stuff-up-his-nose thing. He still attempts to put a lot of things that will never fit up there. When I catch him trying to put a piece of chicken in there... I just laugh at him. Then, when he realizes it won't fit he just puts his fingers up his nose.

Took Dru to the doc yesterday...

He was just acting really fussy ALL THE TIME. So, I took him in for a sick appointment. Turned out the kid was in a lot of pain. His ear infections never went away which means he's had the same double ear infection since mid-February! Poor lil dude. Plus he's getting all of his back teeth. There isn't even a spot of gums where I can't feel a Baby Dru Tooth trying to pop through. Going from 6 teeth to all of his teeth in sixty seconds.
And to top it off he woke up with a fever this morning. He's not eating much for me and he's got sick baby written all over him. The clingy, the exhausted and the lazy little booger.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Yesterday I was running late to pick up Dru from daycare. It costs a dollar a minute for every minute past 6 so I was speeding trying to get there from downtown. Totally didn't make it. Got there at 6:04. He was the sad little dude waiting all alone. I felt so bad. But she didn't end up charging us the fee. We had a pretty rough day & we treated ourselves to some mexican food. Dru ate very little. He would put 10% of what we have him in his mouth. Then, he would drop 50% of the tortillas, chips and chicken on the floor. Would anyone like to know where the other 40% of the food was going? UP HIS NOSE! Yes, new thing. Kinda weird. He's attempting to put just about everything (food wise) up his nose. The first time it happened I didn't see it. Nope. About a half hour after dinner was done and he was bathed I went to pick his nose for him. I thought I saw a booger up there. When the booger turned out to be a whole macaroni noodle I was astounded. I found the humor in it and twittered "Well, Dru isn't allowed to have anything that can fit up his nose anymore. Thank God that macaroni noodle was hollow!" But we have now learned that it doesn't have to necessarily be able fit up his nose. He was trying to put a whole chip up there last night. I have warned his father to watch closely while he eats this weekend. Pray we don't have an ER visit due to food up the nose!

Come on already!

Today is Monday...

Friday Dru walked. Three steps! But I was in another room, and since babies don't do things on demand he couldn't get him to do it again :( Then Saturday I got a text from Billy saying that he walked 3 or 4 steps for him. Yesterday, I was ready. His momma was ready to see him walk all by himself! AND, he did! He took three-ish steps right smack dab in front of me! I was thinking, 'come on already!' A few minutes before he finally did it. It was cute.
He went on to impress his daycare teacher, Christie today. She said he took FOUR steps! It happened while they were outside. SO PROUD!

Dinner Time

So I just gave Dru some chicken, applesauce and string cheese. (We'll have a vegetable later when Mommy has dinner.) I took some shots cuz I haven't in a while :(

Photobucket

I don't give him spoons very often. Because he bites onto it and never lets go. Doesn't use it for it's intended use either. Booger.

Photobucket

This one just looks evil. And look at his hand... It's like he's saying, "Come to the dark side." I love my evil baby.

Just regular ole updates...

I almost pulled Dru out of daycare. Nothing happened there it was for financial reasons. But now I think we'll be okay. I don't want to pull him anyways. He likes it there, and I love the teachers. I also worried that if I took him out and wanted to put him back in someday his spot wouldn't be there :( I wouldn't want to take him to a different place and have him meet a whole new group of kids and new teachers. I like his place, AwesomeDaycare*
I'm off to breakfast... Yep, 11 o clock and I haven't yet had breakfast.

First!!!

He's standing alone now!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Also, he has back teeth! Just on his left side though. They are all coming in. I would say at least four of them. Two on top and two on bottom. I saw the glimmer of back teeth in a smile he gave me while we were playing last week. I had no idea until I stuck my finger in his mouth that he would have so many! 14 months old :)

First!!!!

I made Dru his first "mommy-made" grilled cheese sandwich today! He's eating right now as I type. It felt special. Such a typical mom-thing to do. I made myself one too :)

All better!

Dru's first day back to daycare went very well. He ate for them successfully. (Meaning what went down stayed down.)

I don't think I ever posted pictures of Dru's decorations for his party back in January...
Photobucket
I made about a dozen little guitars out of foam. It was a lot harder than it looks by the way! First one I drew out didn't look ANYTHING like a guitar. (Looked like a penis actually! Not kidding!)

Photobucket
And here we have the theme of the party. Mommy's little rockstar's first birthday :)

He's Okay

Got back from the Doc a little bit ago. Double ear infection and some tummy troubles. Three prescriptions to ease the ailments. He's such a tired and sad little guy. I feel terrible for him, but he's gonna be okay.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Ugh!

Thursday Dru was really sick. I think we got through all of Friday without him getting sick. Then yesterday he got a hold of a three hour old bottle that he had stowed away... got sick right away. I thought that was why he threw up that time. He hasn't hardly eaten solids for me since Thursday. And today he did pretty good with his macaroni and cheese. It didn't last long though. While still chowing down on his macaroni there he goes. All over the chair and tray. It was awful. I bent down held his head forward so he wouldn't choke and I just cried. It was so sad seeing him like that. My mommy heart was breaking. I took him to the tub for his second bath of the day. He was fine after that spell. He was even laughing in the tub.
I really needed to work tomorrows shift. Daycare $$ is due tomorrow and I am negative in the bank :( I took off Thursday and Friday. (I'm always off Saturdays and Sundays since I have no childcare on those days.) Come tomorrow I thought I would be able to take Dru back to daycare. Can't now that he's still sick and I gotta take him to the doctor.

I try to steer clear of depressing blogs, but I'm in a rut. I need a money miracle y'all! I'll play this week's Wednesday lottery and who ever prays for me to win gets a nice little gift as a thank you.

I'll update tomorrow after the appointment. I'm sure it's a tummy virus. We just need to see the Doc.

Sick boy

My poor baby is really sick. He's got the "pee-butt", a term that my good friend, Mindi Moo, has come up with. He's also thrown up twice this morning. It was awful. I could smell it before I even opened his bedroom door. I felt terrible too... He had been crying for me for about 10 minutes and I was taking my time to go get him. (Okay, I was in my bed, cozy as could be and desperately hoping he would fall back asleep.)
I hate how he doesn't feel well when he is sick, but he is so sweet to me in that time. He cuddles with me and wants me to hold him. At about noon he fell asleep in my arms. He and I took a nap on the couch for a whole entire hour. I can promise you it was one of the best hours of my life. I just laid him down in my bed about a half hour ago. He's still sound asleep.
I, of course, called into work to stay home with him. The manager on duty also has a young child. She asked me if I had any pedialyte. I realized then that I didn't. So, when Dru threw up the second time I called his dad to see if he would bring us some. (First, I didn't want to take sick Dru out into the 31 degree weather. Second, I didn't want him throwing up in the car.) I called Dru's dad 17 times and left three pleading text messages. 45 minutes later he called me back... but I had figured something out in that time. (Evidently, it is his day off, and he likes to sleep in on his days off. By sleep in, I mean like 1 in the afternoon.)
So anyways, ran to Wally world and got what we needed to us just in time. Because just as he left to return to work Dru woke from his first nap early this morning. I gave him about a dozen teaspoons of the orange flavored pedialyte and it has been a good three or four hours since he threw up. Yeah!

Okay, wel I hear him moaning in the room behind me. I think the poor little guy has woke up.

Monday, March 9, 2009

Don't worry, he doesn't bite...

Or does he??? There's a biter on the loose in Awesomeville*, Oklahoma.

Dru had two big bite marks on Friday from Daycare. I got his incident report today. I'm still not happy though. His teacher told me that no one saw who it was, yet there were four witnesses written on the incident report. I'm going to ask again when I pick him up in about an hour. The bites were terrible. One had a hickey in the middle of it. That kid must have had a hold of him for a while. The report said he was in a "fight". That made me giggle. I pictured my son getting up and kickin' some other kid in the shin and then punching him in the face... Then, all the other little one year olds chanting, "Fight, fight fight!"
It's mildly funny, but it did upset me. I mean, it's Monday and the poor kid still has two bruises in the shape of teeth on his right arm from Friday. It just better not happen again, and if it does I want that kid gone.

:(

A lot better..

Dru is doing a lot better. His eyes are no longer leaking boogers and he's taking his medicine just fine. It's a steroid and something else... He's still got a pretty bad snotty nose, but his daycare still let him stay.

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Worst allergies ever

Poor Dru. His nose and eyes are leaking! It's sad. It's like a faucet. When I got him out of his crib this morning it was the worst. We got him some children's benedril, but I probably won't give it to him. It's not meant for kiddo's younger than 4.

UPDATE!!! Billy took Dru to urgent care last night and we have him on two prescriptions now. I also did end up giving him the childrens' benedril. Recommended dosage for a 4 year old was 1-2 teaspoons. I gave Dru 1/4 a teaspoon. He just wouldn't go to sleep and his eyes were leaking! After that he fell asleep and slept good til 8:30 am :) Glad I did it.

Friday, February 27, 2009

Shoes!

I bought Dru's first pair of shoes! Yes, he is one year old and I have never put shoes on him. I have always had socks on him in the cold, but I thought shoes were silly. He's had a few pair here at the house. Even a pair of moccasins! They were always either too big or too tight. I took him to Wal-mart with me and we tried on a few pairs. I couldn't get most of them over his heel. Even one pair that was waaaay too big for him. Just couldn't get them over his heels. The last pair I tried was (of course) the most expensive pair. And they fit him perfect :( They are really cute though :)

I got him these shoes because his daycare told me that if he wears shoes he can go play outside. And yesterday was such a nice day- almost 80 degrees out. Sure enough, when I picked him up they were outside playing in the yard of the daycare. It was nice to see. I never take Dru outside just to be outside anymore. Before Ozzy ran away we would go downstairs and sit on the sidewalk together while Ozzy did his thing. He always crawled over the the grass and tried to eat it though... ha ha Must go now... Booger is done with his dinner!

Monday

This Monday Dru starts his daycare! Today we went together to check it out. The day I signed him up for it he had fallen asleep in the car and just looked so peaceful I left him in there while I checked the place out. Well, he seemed to like it today. I gave them his shot records and got a list of things he'll need on Monday and that is that.

In other news his bedroom isn't working out. It's right off the living room and the tv is too loud for him even when it's turned down. Last night I started to move his stuff into the back bedroom and then got lazy. I only moved his crib. So there's this huge bedroom with just a crib in it. It's almost creepy. But since Dru has never seen a scary movie in his life- it prolly doesn't phase him too much.

Thursday, February 12, 2009

I'm Angry!

I have all these boxes around the house that aren't yet full and Dru keeps lifting up and pulling all the junk out of them! I'm frustrated!

Dr.'s app and Daycare and a Random Memory

Dru had a doctor's appointment today. He's had a bad cough lately so it was good timing for his 12 month app. He's 22 lbs and doc said he was great, the cough was nothing. BUT, he has his first ear infection! We made it one whole year and 10 whole days before getting an ear infection. Bummer dude. He's handling it well, though. Even though it is 2 am and I can hear him moaning and groaning in his crib as I'm typing this. Poor baby. If it develops into a full on cry for mama I will go fetch the kid and hold him 'til he's better :)

This Week In Baby Dru News

He is having milk now! I put 4 oz of formula and 4 oz of milk in a bottle and that is how we have been going about it for the past couple of days. I am going to do this until our last tub of formula is gone. I give it a week and a half. After that I think I will give him 6 oz of milk in a sippy cup a few times a day. He eats really good for me lately. I spoke to a nurse at his doctor's office and that is what she suggested. I am excited about him getting off formula. It was a good 70 dollars a month I believe. Now all we got to get rid of is those dang diapers. As soon as he is walking I'm training him. I will work with him every day. My sister's first son, Bobby was potty trained by the day care at age 1. I should call them up and see how they went about that. I hate diapers and I hate formula! ha ha

When the Cat is away the Mouse will play... in the toilet!

I try to keep my son out of the bathroom at all times. Now that there is no cat or cat box in there I just leave the door closed. But today I must have left the door open.

I hear a splish splash from the living room. I knew. I just knew it was toilet water. But who would do such a thing? I'll tell you who- My crazy son who is slowly transforming into a menace. I ran in there immediately and ran some bath water. I hope he realized he was getting a bath at 4 o clock in the afternoon. Don't do that again!

He's changing a lot lately. He's getting really excited a lot. The other night while out at dinner he was squealing so loud and yelling his babbles. He was a very happy boy that evening. He is also mocking us. He clapped yesterday! First time! He shakes his head "no" and nods "yes" when we say the words or shake our heads too :) I taught him how to high five. It took a minute for him to learn these things. It's cute. I'm proud. He is definitely going to be a handful as a toddler. I can already tell. His energy sometimes is off the wall.

Uh.... I can't wait! Haha

Dru's 1st Birthday

Dru's big day is coming up. The big O-N-E! I was thinking about it today and I started to cry. I am going to let him stay up until the time he was born. 10:26. I just want to hold him at that exact time. Just like I did one year ago at that very same time. I was working on the invites earlier. It's going to look like a band flyer.

Baby Dru Rocords Presents:
Mommy's little Rock Star's 1st Birthday!
Venue location: ...
Please call Dru's mommy if you can make it to this rockin' show!

It's a cool font and it will have some cool rock art to go on it. I think I'll get a guitar shaped cake for the event :) And the little cake that goes with it will be a bass drum that says Pearl! Hahaha! It's going to be great. He has two baby friends, a few kids that will be coming and then a lot of family. I can't wait!

How the Heck?

Two days ago I noticed that Dru's front top right tooth .... is chipped! It's a pretty big chunk missing too.

He did have one fall a while back. Hit the coffee table and got a bloody lip.

Poor kid :(
