Stress!

As you know I spent all day going through baby clothes on Saturday. His room has been a huge mess since I started that project. I have empty rubber maid containers on the floor and a couple of full ones that need to find a space in the closet to call home... There are clean clothes all over the place just waiting for me to find the matching pants to and there's jackets that need to be hung up. I also have to hang these two star shaped hooks up on the wall.

At least I got rid of a lot though. The closet is no where near bare... but there is room for some toys Dru doesn't use much any more.

Earlier when I started working on the room I left Dru in the living room to play. I got up to check on him after a short bit and he was eating dirt! Yep, there is dirt in my living room. I left the balcony door open since it is a nice day out (but the screen door closed!!) and it exposed a little bit of dirt in the doorway. You know how sliding screen doors can be kind of hard to keep clean..... (Ok, I admit- I think I have swept it clean once.) It was really gross too. Dru's mouth was brown! I felt bad. But he's ok.

I cut Dru's hair yesterday. I trimmed it was a buzz trimmer. It was sooo hard to do. He could hear it buzzing behind him and kept turning his head. It looks good though! (If you have ever done hair before- I used a 2 on the sides and a 5 on top.) Afterwards, just like at the salon, I brushed him clean and then spiked it up. Then today I gave him a mohawk.

Dru has a fever. It is his first fever. I feel terrible for him. He's screaming right now. I can't handle it. I had to just put him in his crib and let him cry it out. Ok, he already quit screaming. That's good. I held him for a little bit and walked around with him for a short while. He isn't taking his bottle right now. I am not caving and nursing him though. If he isn't taking his bottle then I'm taking that as he is not hungry. Not that he wants to be nursed instead.

I hope he starts to feel better soon. I hate to see that sad face. It tears me up. I also have to work tonight. I don't want to leave him.

First Day

Yesterday was the first day I didn't nurse Dru once. It was hard. I do feel a little distant from him. I missed him being in my arms. I tried to hold him and have him play on my lap, but the little energetic booger showed fairly quickly he would rather be on the floor crawling around. I don't really know what to do now. Should I nurse him late tonight to ease my Playboy status boobies I got going on right now... or should I pump a little so that I won't be hurting in a few hours? I just don't know.

But I will tell you that making him a bottle, laying him in his crib and having him feed himself is awesome! It cuts my time getting ready in half. I would nurse him for 15 to 20 minutes then get ready, but now while he's having his bottle I am doing my hair and brushing my teeth. It's so simple! I am glad he got the nutrition he needed from me for the last 11 months, but I am so relieved for him to be feeding himself now.

Weaning A Baby

I attempted to wean Dru from the BOOB back in September. I got down to three nursings a day. I thought I was doing great until he got sick and would no longer take his bottle. I was nursing him 4 times a day last week. I kinda quit cold turkey. Yesterday I only nursed him twice and today only once. I know that this isn't how you're supposed to do it, but it's how it has happened. He's taking the bottle really well. Solids too.

But right now he has a bad case of dry skin on his back and he has a diaper rash. He's woken up twice tonight. Billy hasn't taken the baby for a visit since Monday, and I am kinda going insane. The hour and a half I had tonight between Dru waking up I tried to sleep. I just tossed and turned though.

It's been a rough night. I'm gonna try to go to bed again now.

Pictures

Dru had an appointment to get Holiday pictures taken on Monday. I couldn't do it though. I got really stressed out. It was terrible. I cried and left. He had pictures taken back in June and it was terrible too. I thought it was because of all of my nephews being there. I thought maybe it was only stressful because there were five boys to control. Nope, it's stressful no matter who or how many kiddos are under that bright light. I don't think I will ever attempt to get pictures taken again. I'm sorry folks. No pictures for you!

He did it!

Yesterday Dru pulled himself up on his feet a million times. I got it on video too :) It's cute. His crib is broken so the side doesn't go up on it like it should. The other side doesn't go down. So, I had a brilliant idea to turn it around. We had to do that yesterday so the little man can't climb out! ha! It looks funny, but it works.

Yay!

New Dru Stuff

For a good month now Dru has been pulling himself up on things but staying on his knees. Well, today he had one knee on the floor and one foot flat. He tried, but he didn't quite make it all the way to both feet. I would say he'll prolly master it by his 1st birthday. Which isn't that far from now if you folks recall!

I can not tell you how much I am anticipating January 31st, 2009 ! It's even better than looking forward to the due date like I had done all of last year. Because ---- pardon me --- but I ain't getting ripped a new one this time! Yay!


My baby boy is gonna be a whole year old. And you all thought I was crazy cuz I threw the kid a HALF-BIRTHDAY party. You guys haven't seen a thing. This is going to be huge!
